MMR Vaccine - Measles, Mumps, and Rubella

The CDC recommends that people get the MMR vaccine to protect against measles, mumps, and rubella. Children should get two doses of MMR vaccine, starting with the first dose at 12 to 15 months of age, and the second dose at 4 through 6 years of age. Teens and adults should also be up to date on their MMR vaccination. Children may also get the MMRV vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox).” Anyone who will be traveling to an area where measles, mumps, or rubella are present should consider a series or booster if need be.  In addition to administering MMR Vaccines, we aim to educate our patients and community at large. We see our role, especially in this day and age, as one that provides education to our community. That’s what matters most to us.
As a condition of employment, Voyage Medical requires all new hires to be fully educated on Measles, Mumps, and Rubella and the Vaccine for it.

MMR is important as it is an effective combined vaccine that fights against Measles, Mumps and Rubella. Though there are cases of this disease in vaccinated people, the symptoms are usually mild. These diseases can be easily spread to unvaccinated people and can also lead to serious problems like pregnancy complications, hearing loss and meningitis. MMR Vaccines help us reduce the risk of being infected by these viruses.  Protect yourself by remaining up to date on your MMR vaccine.
